Choosing the Right InstallerHaving decided to fit an alarm alarm system to your property, what should you look for when choosing an alarm installer? Always approach a company that has a long history of installing alarm systems. Unfortunately, this is an industry that riddled with "fly by night", "here today gone tomorrow" companies. Be sure that the system will be installed and maintained to the British Standard requirements by a company committed to providing this service for you. Choose a company which is a member of a recognised governing body. A certificate of conformity will be issued on completion and you can be assured that the company and it's systems undergo regular checks to ensure full compliance with all standards. Beware of companies that offer rental agreements. A rented system may appear to be cheap but will cost far more in the long run and terminating the agreement will result in the company removing it's equipment, leaving you to find a new installer. Also beware of Maintenance Contracts, many companies will insist that you sign-up to a three or five year contract, this means that you are tied to an installer regardless of the quality of their service. Many of the biggest names in the industry sub-contract a large proportion of their work to smaller companies and individual engineers, ultimately they have little or no control over the quality of work carried out in their name. |
